One year after the Ireland trip, I found myself flying back into Dublin to rent another motorcycle and riding it to the most captivating, breathtaking place I've ever seen. We traveled through eight European countries, including to the Russian border. It was a trip I'll never forget. But the whole purpose of the trip was to reach The North Cape (Nordkapp)...the most northerly point on the European Continent...650 miles north of The Arctic Circle...
"The End of the Road".
This is a short (under 5 minutes) overview of the whole North Cape trip. A great way to get a small taste of what it was like to ride through all of these wonderful countries.
After picking up my rental, I ride from Dublin to Derry, to meet Kevin, then we ride to Belfast, hop on our first ferry to Liverpool, then ride across England and board ferry number two to the Hook of Holland.
A cold, wet and windy ride through The Netherlands and Germany, followed by a beautiful ride through Denmark. Then we board the ship that would take us to Bergen, Norway.
Arriving in Norway, we're not disappointed. The scenery is mind blowing. We ride from Bergen to Helgatun, then Helgatun to Farstadt, taking a ferry ride through the spectacular Geiranger Fjord.
We ride from Farstadt to Steinkjer, then onward to the snowy Arctic Circle, traveling up the Coast road, then through The Atlantic Ocean Tunnel which is nearly four miles long and over 800 feet below the ocean's surface.
The beautiful scenery just keeps on going.
We ride from The Arctic Circle to Nordkjosbotn, then we finally reach The North Cape. Truly an unforgettable milestone for both of us.
From The North Cape, we travel south into Finland, stopping at the Russian border, then after a couple days of riding, arrive in Helsinki, where we board a boat to Stockholm, Sweden.
With some great weather, we had a fun ride through Sweden, back through Denmark, stopping in Christianfeld, then Germany and The Netherlands, stopping in Amsterdam and continuing through England and Wales and finishing up the trip in Dublin.
